It's been quite the week, friends. Ever get the feeling that you are pushing a boulder up a hill with no end in site and then all of a sudden you are over the hill as the boulder rolls away from you, going faster and faster? If you have, then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, then I have wasted a good analogy. What I am referring to is the book. Yes, I know I have been rattling on about it for a long time, but we are really on the home stretch. Allow me to give you an idea of what has been happening over the past few days and a glimpse into what is to come. At the beginning of the week, my good friend Daron started sending a new cover idea each day. We had some back and forth and neither of us felt quite right about the back cover. It was missing something. Daron worked hard and came up with a really vibrant design that incorporated the talented photography of two other amazing friends, Christian and Jenn. Hats off to you guys. Once all that was done, I had to finalise the dimensions of the interior, layout, and cover, then get it all verified for printing the first run. I should receive the printed and bound version sometime next week. After the final read, the countdown is on.
The Second Lap will launch in Paris on my 38th birthday, Saturday March 14th, at le Pavé d’Orsay. This is a creative space in the heart of the city that is well known for musical showcases, art displays, and book launches. I feel privileged to have been accepted there. All the details on this event will come in the next few weeks. The paperback and kindle versions will be released globally the day before, Friday 13th, on Amazon. Many people, from Australia to America, have asked about signed copies. If you buy it on Amazon, I will not be able to sign it. I am sorry, but it's not viable logistically or financially to sign all the copies. I am sure our paths will cross at some point so just make sure you have your book with you. My Facebook page and twitter feeds will have details too, so be sure to check in there regularly. I have been baffled by the interest and support I've seen for this project, really. It feels like such a team effort and I humbly ask that you will continue to help me in the coming weeks and months to promote The Second Lap. You can do this by sharing updates, emailing friends, and being active on social media (Facebook, twitter, Instagram etc.) using the hashtag #TheSecondLap. Very much looking forward to sharing the story and adventure with you guys.
